Welcome to the

Elementary Computers Page

We have two elementary computer labs, which are located in rooms D-480 and LL-509. These labs are used for structured lessons in computer skills. I work with students in grades K4-6 on a regularly scheduled basis. The lab is also opened during the day so students can work on projects assigned in other classes. The main goal of this class is to provide students with the skills they will need to successfully utilize technology in their daily activities. Likewise, teachers from all grade levels are given the opportunity to incorporate technology into their daily curriculum and use the lab in such a way that students understand the value of the technology provided to them through our school. They learn that computers can be helpful tools when working on research projects or simply publishing homework assignments.  Chatting on line or checking email is not allowed in our school and online games are offered on a very limited basis. However, it is my hope that our students will  have fun while learning to use these valuable tools.

Students are never left unattended in the lab and must have a signed Acceptable Use Policy returned to the elementary office in order to have access to the computers and to the Internet. All students have a unique password to further protect them from improper use of the equipment. In addition, our school technology coordinator maintains a very careful watch over our school network to ensure that improper sites are blocked from view. Our district has made a huge commitment to technology and the technology team is doing its best to provide all our students with safe access to the world wide web by providing easily accessible tools while at the same time monitoring the proper use of these tools. It is our goal to provide all our students with the best possible education and to meet the technology standards set forth by the Pennsylvania Department of Education.

If you have any questions or concerns about our elementary computer program or any technology issues, please feel free to contact me at the address below or Mr. Dave Daugherty, ddaugherty@fcrsd.org, our Technology Coordinator.

Thank you.

Mr. Griffin
